Day 2 Complete…despite the rain and traffic
May 21st, 2006
Sorry we missed the past few days. We had some issues with internet access. Probably won’t be the first time on this trip! We woke up early Sunday and rushed to Hearst Castle to make a 12:20 tour reservation. Little did we know that we were in for a very wet day with little traffic on Highway 1 (getting us there earlier than expected). We actually got there early enough to see the introductory IMAX movie prior to taking our tour (this worked out really well!). The tour was great, but every time we stepped outside, the amount of water that our shoes and pants had to hold significantly increased! It’s a beautiful “ranch”, but the rain could have stayed away.
Luckily, by the time we reached our final destination with Brad’s Aunt Tricia and Uncle Mark, we had dried out. We say that we were lucky, but that’s only because we were dry…the unlucky part of the drying out was due to an extra hour in the car as we were welcomed to famous southern California traffic. Apparently, Santa Barbara on a Sunday afternoon is not the place to be! We finally made it and had a fabulous visit – a delicious home-cooked meal, some great wine, company, and end to the day…a long soak in Tricia and Mark’s beautiful hot tub! Not such a bad way to end the 2nd day of our vacation.
